Transport to the funeral service

Choosing the best way to get to the funeral

The journey to and from the funeral provides an opportunity to reflect and remember – for many it is a significant part of the service.

We’ve included some important information for you to consider when considering transportation options:

The hearse and the cars that follow it are known as the cortège. There are a variety of options to consider here: whether you’d prefer a motor or horse-drawn hearse (an additional hearse can be requested to carry the flowers) and how many limousines you’ll need (our modern limousines carry six passengers). This is your choice dependant on the number of people you’d like to be part of the cortege, some people have only immediate family, but other choose to extend this so more people are involved in the procession.

You’ll be able to decide the location the cortège leaves from and returns to. If you like we can also follow a particular route, perhaps past a favourite Liverpool landmark, or a well loved location. We can provide wheelchair access is required – just let us know.

We’ll discuss all these options with you when arranging your funeral. Leadbetter & Murphy will make all transport arrangements on your behalf, whatever your wishes.
